2005 Maquoketa Caves
June 2005
If you're looking for a great place to take your kids, it's hard to beat the Maquoketa Caves State Park, located just 20 minutes (by air) away, outside of Maquoketa, Iowa. With miles of great hiking trails -- both above and below ground -- the park is an easy drive from the airport using the airport's venerable '74 Chevy Nova courtesy car.
The caves offer well-lit, easy-to-hike caverns, as well as "off-trail" spelunking for the expert cave explorer. Best of all, the temperature in the caves is constantly in the upper 50s -- just the ticket in the heat of summer *or* the cold of winter!
