2008 - Ercoupe N94856
In May of 2008 the Iowa City Flying Club was formed for the express
purpose of providing its members affordable family flying. Made up of
charter members Keith Roof, Bob Hall, and Jay Honeck (with associate family
members Joe and Mary Honeck, Ben Hall, and Pat Roof), the club purchased a
1948 Ercoupe from a pilot in Knoxville, IA, N94856.
This bird had been sold recently once before. Unfortunately, during
delivery it was struck and damaged by a fuel truck, causing the sale to fall
through. The wings were removed, and the plane was trucked back to
Iowa. The owner was in the process of obtaining and installing new
wings when he decided to simply sell the plane "as-is".
We picked up the damaged wings on May 29th. These will be repaired
and sold. The plane was then trucked to Iowa City on June 1,
2008. The new wings were picked up on Wednesday, June 4th. These
will be painted and installed ASAP.
