Fly-In Pool Party

Every year we throw a fly-in/drive-in pool party for pilots and guests that are on their way to the biggest airshow in the world, held annually in Oshkosh, WI.  FREE food, beverages and music will be served in quantity at poolside, as our way of saying "thanks" for another great year!   (And then everyone -- including Mary and me -- departs for Oshkosh the next day, in order to arrive one day before the show opens...)

Details of the 2005 edition:

Call Unicom on 122.8 when you are 10 miles out, and ask them to call us.  We'll pick you up in our courtesy van.  (The hotel is located on the north side of the arrival end of Rwy 25 -- not too far of a walk, but you must walk around a fair portion of the runway to get to us from the ramp.)

If you wish to spend the night, reservations are strongly encouraged.  We will allow limited camping on the hotel grounds, and the Eastern Iowa Pilots Association flight school has agreed to allow camping at the airport -- but space is limited!   Call 888-925-3947 if you have any questions.  (Yes, showers are available!)

FAQ:

1. Is the party really free?  Yep.  No hotel reservations or payment of any kind is required to attend the party.  This one really is "on the house."

2. What kind of food will be served?  Traditional American cook-out food.  Bratwurst, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips, beans, etc.

3. What kind of beverages will be served?   Real German-style beer will be served, along with soft drinks.  If you'd like something else, better bring it along.

4.  Can we just drop in for a bit?  Sure!   Stop in Iowa City for gas and a potty break on your way to OSH, and bop on over to the inn for a brat and a burger.

5. How do I get a ride back to the airport?   Just ask!    We're only 400 yards away, so it's not a big deal for us to zip you back to your plane in our 7 passenger van.

6. Is hangar space available?   Yes, but call ahead.  It goes quickly.

7. What do suites in the hotel cost?  Anywhere from $53.95 to $134.95 per night, with your EAA discount.  They go really, REALLY fast, so reservations are highly recommended.  Check our aviation theme-suites out here.

8.  If I camp, is there food available nearby?  Yes, there are three restaurants within easy walking distance, including one that serves breakfast all day.

9.  How about bathrooms?  Yes, we've got a rooming house/dormitory on the property with three bathrooms/showers available for campers to use.

10. What will camping cost?  Whatever you think it's worth.   Donations will be gratefully accepted.
