Hampton Aviation Association
The Hampton Aviation Association, led by Paul Sensor (owner of an awesome 1936 Stinson 8E!), flew into Iowa City on April 2, 2005, for their semi-annual get together. Descendants of the original group that used to organize the Hampton, IA air show, this bunch of fun-loving aviation enthusiasts came to Iowa City to see the Inn and to enjoy the activities and ambience of a college town.
While they were here, they split into two groups. Group One "flew" the University of Iowa's Boeing 737-800 simulator (located at the Iowa City Airport), received an impromptu tour of Don Gurnett's beautiful North American AT-6, and were able to examine Justin Fishbaugh's brand new (first flight: Next week), just finished, 340 horsepower Glasair III.
Group Two -- most of the wives -- went off for a day of shopping in the nearby Amana Colonies. (No photographic record of this exists -- but the credit card bills will document this well enough! :-)
The groups then reunited for an evening at the Old Capital Brewery -- Iowa City's terrific microbrew-pub -- and a great time was had by all! Here are some photos from that beautiful spring weekend:
