On August 9th I had the unexpected pleasure of sampling the hospitality at the Alexis Park Inn. (Unexpected because my alternator quit when I was almost overhead on my way to Colorado.)  Jay came after me and my little girls and found his mechanic Keith Roof of Iowa City Aircraft Repair to verify my alternator problem (on a Saturday).

 

Meanwhile a kind relative decided to drive 3 hours to get us for the weekend. I felt guilty for all of their work but Jay & Mary said no problem and even lent us towels for a dip in the pool while we waited.

 

We did return Monday night for a stay in the Lindbergh Suite (more like a condo) with an EAA discount. The hotel's van was at our disposal for food runs (over 50 restaurants are within 1 mile) and of course a lift to our plane Tuesday morning.

 

All this plus great airplane memorabilia and conversations in their spare minutes puts Jay and Mary on the top of my list.  Find a reason to stop for the night. You will not regret it.
