Added 11/28/03    Mike Adams -- 1967 Cessna Skylane 182K -- N2533R

Mike is based at Deer Valley Airport (DVT) in Phoenix, AZ, and by his own words has been a long-time "lurker" -- and occasional poster -- on the aviation newsgroups.   He and his son, Steve, flew into their first Oshkosh in 2003, and enjoyed the Newsgroup Party in the North 40!

Jack Allison -- 1971 Piper Arrow -- N2104T

Jack lives in Sacramento, CA and is now the owner (with two partners) of the most beautiful '71 Piper Arrow on the planet.  As you can see from the pix, below, this bird is a "10" from stem to stern.  The interior is perfect, and the panel is replete with a Garmin GNS-430, JPI Engine analyzer, and many other goodies.

The other pix are of his former favorite rental steed, N8240L, and of the almost-new 2000 172 he flew into OSH '03.  Jack earned his PPL in January of 2003, and flew into Oshkosh in July -- a 3000 mile round trip! -- with his brother, Steve. Jack is a prolific contributor to the .owning and .piloting newsgroups, and plans to complete his instrument training shortly.

Gail and her husband Jim reside in Grass Valley, CA, and fly their beautifully restored 1958 182 all over the country together.  Jim is a long-time regular on all of the aviation newsgroups, and they both put on a terrific forum at Oshkosh every year.   These photos are from their visit to Iowa City in July, en route to OSH 2003.  They also own RST Engineering, makers of outstanding (and affordable!) kit aviation electronics.  See them at www.rst-engr.com.

Updated 6/4/06   Paul Anton -- 1946 Ercoupe -- NC2273H

On the 100th anniversary of flight Paul & Winona Anton went flying together, with Mr. Rainier towering over Puget Sound.  With Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, and Mt. St. Helens visible in the background, it was a perfect way to celebrate 100 years of flight.  (Paul also has a certificate signed by Gen. Jimmy Doolittle attesting to his having flown on the 50th anniversary of flight, too!)

Paul and Winona have sold their Ercoupe, and are now flying a lovely '51 TriPacer out of 1S0, Thun Field, in Puyallup, Washington. (See the new pic, below)

Added 10/29/05   Eric Bartsch -- 1959 Pilatus P3 -- A-848

Eric is based in Toledo, Ohio, at Metcalf Airport (TDZ), and has been a long time "lurker" on the rec.aviation newsgroups.  He just became a first-time owner this month, when he purchased his 1959 Pilatus P3 warbird.  It was registered as A-848 in the Swiss Air Force from 1959 to 1990.  After "retirement" it was reassembled in the US in 1996, and Eric is now its third US owner.  The plane is similar to a T-34, but with a much heavier structure and slightly lower performance (due to almost 500 lbs more aluminum!).   Cruise speed is about 135 knots, and Vne is 270!   The turboprop Pilatus PC-7 and the current T-6 Texan II are descendents of the P3.

Now this plane rates high in "cool" factor!

Added 10/28/05   Alan Bloom -- 1960 Cessna Skylane -- N8565T

Alan and his wife, Sue, are based in Boulder, CO (1V5), and fly all over the Southwest.  Alan grew up in Chicago, but came to Boulder to attend college in 1968 -- and never left.  Sue prefers "destination flying" to places like Taos, Santa Fe, and Sheridan, and usually passes on Alan's weekend site-seeing trips.  Because of this, their two Flying Mutts, Simon and Idgie, have more flying hours than Sue!   Because the dogs are 15 and 13 now, respectively, Alan bought them them a ramp, shown with lovely Sue, to make entry and egress easier.  (The dogs wouldn't cooperate!)  He's also included "before" and "after" pics of the 182's interior.  Read more about Alan & Sue at their website, www.flyingmutts.com

 Chris Blythe --  Piper Tri-Pacer -- G-ARCC

Hailing from the United Kingdom, Chris gets to REALLY fly over the white cliffs of Dover once in a while!  He belongs to a flying club with about 20 members, and three different planes, including a Vagabond and a Wassmer (a French 3-seater.)   The club is based at Popham Field, home to a couple of Yaks, a Pitts,  a raft of ultralights, and a DH Hornet Moth.  Read more about it at their website,  http://www.popham-airfield.co.uk/

5/2/05 Update:

"Here are two more planes I have a share in.  The blue plane is a Wassmer 52, French Built with a 180 hp Lycoming engine and VP prop. Very slippery and one of the first production glass fibre aircraft.  Unlikely there are any like it in the US as there are only two on the UK register."

"The Warrior N registration allows me to use my FAA IR here, although as you
can see from the other picture it likes to be in special places. On this occasion it was at Cardiff Wales airport, the day the Concordes left service. The Concorde here left Cardiff and joined up with the others to make their final arrivals into Heathrow after their farewell tours."

Dan is a long-time contributor to the newsgroups.  He is also a prolific free-lance writer, with many published books and magazine articles.   Dan says "Zero Six Hotel is a 1946 J-3 beautifully rebuilt a few years ago as an L-4. It has the green-house glazing and the star, but retains the Cub Yellow paint for the sake of visibility in the pattern.  It belongs to Hampton Airport, New Hampshire (7B3).  I am one of the few students who stuck with J-3s throughout my training, and therefore got a recreational license, and I am one of only a couple of regular renters today.

I soloed at 67 after 48 hours and got my license a year later with 102 hours--none of those being a field record!

Roger, from Midland, MI, is a long-time newsgroup contributor, and the proud owner of the "World's Oldest Deb" -- N833R.  It was the second one ever built, and the first off the assembly line.  As such, it has 30 hours of "pre-production flight testing" in the log book.   Roger started flying back in 1963, but a wife, two kids, and a new home in the country put a temporary end to his flying in '87.  At that point he quit working as in instrument technician, went back to college full-time to study Computer Science, and with two pilot "wannabees"  bought a share in his first plane, a Cherokee 180 (N6360J).   He's owned 833R since 1991, and has flown it over 1000 hours with his wife, Joyce.

Added 5/3/05   Paul Hekman -- 1969 Piper Arrow -- N7627D

After Paul saw Jack Allison's beautiful new Arrow in the gallery, he knew he couldn't let Jack steal all the glory -- so he submitted these pictures of his beautiful Piper retractable!   Living in Chicago without a car presents some unique flying problems, especially since the Arrow is hangared many miles away in Gary, Indiana!  Paul solves this problem by catching the train and walking a mile from the airport station to his hangar whenever he needs to fly.  Until King Daley bulldozed Meigs Field in the middle of the night, Paul was able to watch air traffic going in and out from his living room window....

Nice panel!

A clean looking Arrow, indeed...

Update 12/15/03   Neal Howard -- "The Checkerbird" -- 1966 Piper Cherokee 140 - N4646R

Neal is based at Wichita Valley Airport (F14), in Wichita Falls, TX, and has been on the groups for about four years.  He started flying lessons in 1999, but quit after only 9 hours due to money troubles.  He resumed in February, 2000, and got his ticket in August of that year.  His longest flights, to date, have been to Iowa (to pick up the Checkerbird), and to the Pinckneyville Rec.Aviation 2002 Fly-In.   He's also explored the central plains of Colorado, and the Hill Country of Texas.
