Mike Rapoport -- 1982 Mitsubishi MU-2 -- N747SY and Helio H-295 Courier N295H

Mike and his 156-pound Alaskan Malamute, Yukon, reside in Sandpoint, ID, and flies his gorgeous mini-airliner all over the world.   In the Fall of 2004 he added a very cool Helio Courier to his "fleet" -- giving him truly "go-anywhere" capability.  Mike has been active on the newsgroups for many years, and is a font of wisdom regarding the little-known world of turbo-props. Mike's first plane was a Piper T-tailed Lance.

Updated 3/6/04   Peter Ricciardiello -- 2002 Cessna Skyhawk SP -- N190LP

Based in Syracuse, NY (KSYR), Peter has been posting as "Peter R." for about two years, basically since re-starting his flight lessons.  Since then he has obtained his private certificate and instrument rating.  He has logged about 400 hours on his beautiful SP, and is now ready to move up to something faster and more complex.  90% of his flying is for Angel Flight Northeast, which he finds immensely rewarding.  As his kids get older, however, he expects to do more "family flying".

Updated 1/30/04   Ross Richardson -- 1965 Cessna 172F -- N7905U

Ross is a long-time newsgroup contributor, and is based at Sherman Municipal Airport in Sherman, Texas.  He has been flying since 1970, and has owned his beautiful 05U for about six years.    It has been converted to a 180 horsepower engine with a constant-speed prop.  It also has flap seals and a STOL kit, making it a great short-field performer.  And, as icing on the cake, It is also IFR/G equipped, with a King KLN-89B.

Tony Roberts --  1967 Cessna Skyhawk 172H --  C-GICE

Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Tony wins the "First From Canada" award for our Rogue's Gallery!  His Skyhawk was formerly used for aerial measuring of forestry blocks, and came IFR certified and fitted with gap seals for STOL work.  Since purchasing it, Tony has changed the prop to a climb prop, added a spin-on oil filter, replaced the tach and turn-and-bank, added an EI Engine analyzer, a yoke-mount GPS, an engine pre-heat system, and a full set of covers.   He's been on the groups since July 2000, hanging out primarily in the piloting and student groups.

Now THAT'S a steep turn!

Based in Meriden, CT (MMK), John is a regular newsgroup participant.  The photos at the Wright Memorial were taken one day AFTER the washed-out Centennial of Flight celebration (what irony -- look at that beautiful sky!)   John works at Sikorsky, and naturally enjoys flying helicopters as well as fixed-wing aircraft!

Added 6/11/04     Eric Rood  -- 1945 7AC Champ -- N443WB

Eric is based at an uncharted strip in Central Ohio, 11 miles SSW of KLCK.  He previously operated off a 1500 foot hang-glider strip, so short-field technique is a strong point!   He grew up flying, being around airplanes since he was 3 - 4 years old.   His dad was a pilot, but never had a certificate -- how times have changed!  Eric's been on the newsgroups since around 1997, skydived from '73 to '79, and got his PP in 1980.  He's instrument rated, has 1200+ hours (500 tailwheel), 400 high performance, and 300+ other.)

Ed is based at Chandler Field in Fresno, California, and has been a frequent poster on the homebuilding newsgroup for a number of years.  He says "I was originally known as the 'Old Curmudgeon' until Urban usurped the title.  I'm also known as 'Dead Ed' for obvious reasons..."  He's been to OSH once, but had difficulty getting past Ely, Nevada, both going and coming.   The pictures show him with his grand-daughter Megan at ages six and seven.

Bill and "Mrs. MauleDriver" (Alicia), base their Maule in Durham (8NC8), North Carolina.  Bill is a long-term and prolific poster on the newsgroups, and is one of our two resident Maule experts.   Here are some pictures of the Maule, Bill, Alicia, and others...

Here is Mrs Mauledriver (Alicia) and the Baby. Overhead, you can see the Goodyear blimp.

Ryan is a medical doctor based in Middleton, WI, whose wife and daughter "love to fly with him" in their Cessna Skyhawk.   Ryan soloed in '99, but didn't earn his ticket until 2001, due to med school and training.  The Skyhawk is his third aircraft, having previously owned an Ercoupe and a Ka-6CR glider.  Ryan began volunteering at Oshkosh in 1987, and has attended all but 3 conventions since then.  He flew into Oshkosh 2004, and enjoys flying all over the country, both for recreation and to run in marathons.

Nathan has been posting on R.A. newsgroups for ten years, making him a true Usenet "old-timer".  He's owned 62-Romeo since 2000, and has put 800 hours on it in just four years!  Based at Lake-of-the-Hills, Illinois (3CK), Nathan's longest trip has been to Naples, FL (KAPF), which took 12 hours into the teeth of a massive headwind.  (Which, of course, shifted around and became another headwind on the way home!)
