Saturday - At the Udvar-Hazy Center

Answering everyone's prayers, the day dawned clear and warm, with no morning fog.  Slowly all aircraft gathered, with those of us on the Piedmont-Hawthorne ramp facing a looooong taxi down to the museum.   In the end, it actually took us longer to taxi to the museum than it did to fly in from Frederick!

And afterwards, we were able to relax and re-hydrate at Ron & Margy Natalie's home, surrounded by friends and fellow pilots.

Here are some pictures from the fantastic day

Ron mounts up at the Hawthorne ramp, ready for...

Margy directing traffic on the ramp...

Once at the U-H center, it was time to remove several days of grime and bugs...

Including polishing the prop...

Soon Atlas was restored to his usual gleaming self!

The view down the ramp was impressive....

Bruce Bohannon's Exxon Flying Tiger

Joe checks out a Corsair on the ramp...

A better view of the cockpit...

The kids with the Harriers that flew in...

Meanwhile, Mary works the crowd at the plane...

Here we are, with the U-H museum...

Another view of Atlas and the U-H Center...

Planes hang inside at all sorts of cool angles...

The beautiful Boeing 377 Clipper...

The Enola Gay commands attention and respect...

Later, at Ron & Margy's house, Ron carves the turkey!
