Amelia Earhart Museum
While Sunday dawned nice in Osage Beach, a frontal line of thunderstorms stretched like a course line from there all the way to our planned destination, Sandusky, Ohio.
No problem -- we weren't in any hurry! So, we aimed Atlas Northwest, behind the front and into the clear, dry air over Atchison, Kansas, home of Amelia Earhart!
We were surprised to be routed directly over Kansas City International airport, but that's where ATC sent us, giving us a spectacular view of the airport and downtown. Then it was off to little Atchison, to visit Amelia Earhart's home, which has been converted into a splendid museum.
Later, after the storms had moved East, we took advantage of the long daylight hours and flew to Springfield, Illinois, to visit the new Abraham Lincoln Museum, and to visit our friends Mike and Deanna Sullivan. We arrived in the pattern over Springfield just as a major storm cell was moving out!
