Sunday Toy Show

The final day of the show dawned clear, cool, and windy -- not terrific conditions for a fly-in breakfast!  Uncharacteristically, however, the winds diminished throughout the morning, and remained aligned with Rwy 7 (the preferred runway for parking folks in the grass at Iowa City).  By mid-morning, the wind had become a breeze, the temperatures were in the low 70s, and the fly-in crowd arrived in earnest.

Meanwhile, the Pitts, Travel Air, CT, and Jet Air's own trainers were constantly overhead, giving rides to all comers.  Best of all the sound of radial and Merlin engines filled the skies over Iowa City from morning till evening, as the T-6, three T-28s, three Stearmans, and Mustang stayed airborne all day!

It was an incredible amount of work, but we managed to pull the show off in style!  And, of course, now the REAL work can begin, as we try to come up with an affordable-yet-cool aviation exhibit design for the Iowa Children's Museum -- the ultimate beneficiary of all this work!
