Thursday

Thursday was probably the nicest day at the show, with cool temperatures and low humidity.  The heat of Sunday and the storms of Monday were long forgotten, and the sky was full of planes!

We finally made it south of Aeroshell Square on Thursday, spending a few hours watching the (delightfully insane) ultralight pilots flying their marvelously abbreviated landing patterns.

We then stumbled across "The Big Man" himself, Paul Poberezny, who was signing autographs in (of all places) the Harley-Davidson tent.  He was kind and gracious, and gave Becca a big hug after signing her "airshow hat."  It's hard to believe that this simple guy's dream has grown into the largest aviation exhibition in the world!

Then, later in the day, we "spelled" our friend Gary Elshoff at his "Flying Colors Glass" booth, which he was manning solo most of the week.   His aviation themed stained glass is truly special, and we are always proud to represent the "satisfied customer" in his booth. (He did the windows in our lobby...)

Here are a bunch of pix of that day:

Trimotor overhead!

The ultralights are incredible!

With approaches that take your breath away...

And landings that scare the heck out of ya!

They always look like they're about to crash...

Yet they always came through unscathed...

It's great fun to watch!

They don't clear the trees by much!
