Trip to St. Louis
2/17 - 2/19/06 Our intention was to fly to Fredericksburg, TX, to check out our newest competition in the aviation theme-suite hotel business, the "Hangar Hotel." The fact that it was 81 degrees there in early February had NOTHING to do with this plan, of course.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened with a humongous Canadian arctic high pressure system that rammed freezing cold temperatures -- and snow -- all the way down into the Texas panhandle. So, Texas was out, and St. Louis (and the Charles Lindbergh Exhibit at the Missouri History Museum) became the destination.
It worked out well. The kids had been bugging us to visit the Gateway Arch for several years, so we were finally able to make good on our promises -- and we found some absolutely unique stuff for the Charles Lindbergh Suite! It was a great -- if brief -- respite from work and school, and the flying weather was superb.
Here are some pix from the trip:
Friday, 2/17 After a quick, tail-wind-assisted flight of just 1:20, our first day in St. Louis was spent at the awesome Gateway Arch, and the beautifully restored Union Train Station.

Saturday, 2/18 At the urging of a Schafly's brew pub employee (where we ate dinner Friday night), we took the kids to the inappropriately-named "City Museum". This staid and boring-sounding name doesn't do justice to this wild, crazy, adventuresome, almost surreal establishment! If you EVER get to St Louis, GO THERE -- it's an amazing experience you won't ever forget..

Sunday, 2/19 Our last stop on the trip was the Missouri History Museum, to pick up unique and unusual Charles Lindbergh artwork and memorabilia for our Charles Lindbergh Suite. The weekend was over, but it's not to be forgotten any time soon!
